Roshni -- Currency Recognizer APP
As per WHO 2018 reports, there are around 1.3 billion people worldwide who are visually
impaired, of whom 36 million are blind. The vast majority live in developing countries, with India being home for around one third of total blind population. It is often difficult for the visually impaired people to identify the denomination of the currency note. Earlier, they used to try to differentiate and recognize the notes based on different sizes, but post demonetisation, it became very challenging due to almost similar sizes of new notes.
The Roshni is the first Android App that works successfully with INR currency notes, both new and old. The user has to bring the currency note in front of phone camera and the App would provide audio notification intimating the currency note’ denomination to the user. It works well in broad range of light conditions and holding angles. If the image is not clear or not focused, or the desirable minimum prediction accuracy is not achieved, the user is
provided aural notification to try again by the App. This AI based App utilizes an adaptable
deep learning framework, which further uses the patterns and features embedded on the notes to differentiate and determine the currency denomination.
Features:
-Visually Impaired Friendly
-Auto audio teller for denomination (INR) when placed below or above the camera
-Easy to operate
- Flash Light support
-Works for both new and old Indian currency notes (INR 10 and higher)
