ITALO DISCO – Italian Music

Italo-disco emerged in Italy in the early 1980s, a period when disco had largely faded from popularity in the USA and the UK. However, the genre remained a hit across much of Europe.

Italian music producers, embracing synthesizers and drum machines, fully transformed Italo-disco into an electronic genre by the mid-80s. This style is known for its medium tempo, synthetic sounds, and distinctive artificial quality. Typically, Italo-disco songs feature English lyrics delivered with a strong Italian accent.

Notable artists in the Italo-disco genre include Savage, Fancy, Scotch, Ken Laszlo, Radiorama, Fun Fun, Alexander Robotnick, and Fantasy.
