Badump aims to help couples maintain a long-lasting relationship by finding customized date ideas for them to engage in together.

Maintaining a long term and loving relationship can be challenging. As couples settle into their relationship, it becomes difficult to find fresh and unique date ideas that interest both, which may lead to questioning of one’s compatibility with their partners as well as the potential for a long- term and healthy relationship. Research has found that during the COVID-19 pandemic, 5 million Canadian couples ended their relationships due to stresses introduced by the pandemic (Thomson, 2021); relationships such as long distance or polyamory can also pose extra challenges. Therefore, we are introducing this interesting app that is designed to alleviate the burden of constantly coming up with new bonding activities for individuals seeking a lasting relationship. On top of that, it also serves as a central store for various date ideas and allows individuals who are eager to try something new with their loved ones to have the information at their fingertips.

According to Statista, the current number of smartphone users in the world is 6.6 billion, which constitutes nearly 84% of the world’s population (O’Dea, 2021). Therefore, having our project on mobile platforms allows reaching the largest audience possible and subsequently increasing user engagement. In addition, mobile applications can offer better personalized user experience based on the interest, location and behavior of the user, which greatly resonates with our project’s ob- jective - finding customized date ideas. Because of the portable nature of mobile devices, being a mobile app allows our users and their partners to agree on date activities asynchronously anytime, anywhere, through the app’s unique idea matching functionality; this provides users with greater flexibility and efficiency compared to traditional communication methods such as in-person meet- ings or phone calls. Lastly, mobile devices decouple information due to their limited screen sizes. Similarly, our app adopts a modularized design based on functionalities such as exploring, saving and matching activities, making it easy to follow and understand.
